“Photos of Madrid,” the new single from Filligar, is a textural left-turn from their record Hexagon, released only weeks ago. The indie/alternative quartet eschew their familiar organic, lilting approach for pitter-pat high-hat and 1970’s Radio Shack Moog synths. A looping, hypnotic verse gives way to a chorus full of life and color, bursting into bloom with rich harmonies and a rapid-fire piano line. Vocalist Johnny Mathias offers a lyrical performance that is at once tongue-in-cheek and charmingly sentimental.
On the B-side is the official remix of the track by Kent Rockafeller. A gritty dance track, Rockafeller’s electronic approach pumps the amplitude while remaining true to the original’s A/B structure and Johnny’s playful vocal.[/one_half_last]

Who’s listening?
Both versions are awesome! Dig the new sound!
Okay, so my usual listening preference is Americana but I love you guys! Hexagon has become a frequent soundtrack for my daily walk. Reading the description of Photos of Madrid, I was prepared to find it not to my taste but after listening to it I’m now off to iTunes to purchase (don’t care for the remix, though). Looking forward to hearing the next new release.
Thanks man! Glad you dig Hexagon and also the new track… we had a fun time recording it. Thanks for listening. – ptcj
